Easter Day

The joys of knowing the Risen Lord

Reading - Matthew 28: 1-10

Kids Talk:

• When you play games do you like to win or lose? Discuss
• If you follow football, you always want your team to play well and to win whenever possible
• Losing to the English team at cricket this year was a real sadness
• When you do win at anything, you like to celebrate
• That is why today is such a celebration.
• The baddies of Jesus day thought they had finally got rid of that trouble maker Jesus (in their words of course)
• But Jesus defied everything and rose from death to come amongst his disciples to celebrate
• He wanted his follows and this includes us to know that when a Christian follows Jesus as his friend, they never really die.
• Rather they are taken to Heaven to be with Jesus
• Of course all of us have a lot of living to do here on earth yet, but when that time finally comes, year and years down the track, we know Jesus will still be with us.
• So today we celebrate that Jesus defeated death and has shown us what happens when believe in him
• Of course we don't come back to life here on earth.
• Rather we go to a much better place where love, kindness, respect etc are there in plenty and every day is exciting, joyful and peaceful.

Kids Church Activity:
Activity: Read the Easter reading or tell the story in your own words, acting it out with plasticine models on a tray with a stone 'cave' built on it in a garden

Help children make an arrangement of joy at Jesus being alive forever. Add a slogan to the side of the Marj container. Maybe placing a stick on label (or two) there first to make it easier to write on. When they have finished, light all the candles, and let the children carry them in procession into the church near the altar.

What you need to get ready:
Require: • a margarine tub • oasis • selection of Spring flowers • tall white candle • black texta

Children's activity that could be included in the newsletter this week for them to use during the service
