Scene of sellers etc in the outer part
of the temple. Money changes changing money & selling doves
Narrator:
The temple was being used by rip off merchants who were robbing people,
not giving them their correct change
(Worshipper comes in to offer sacrifice with their
own doves.)
Seller: You can't come into here unless
you have your bird inspected.
(Sellers looks at bird and says it is not up to standard)
Seller: You can't offer this inferior
bird. You will have to buy one of these approved birds.
Buyer changes his money (and gets ripped off) and
then buys the doves and goes to offer them in the temple. As soon as
he is out of sight the seller says.
Seller: Another sucker. We did not
give him the right change, and now we can put his birds in with the
rest and sell them as approved birds.
Narrator: At this time, it was the
near the Passover of the Jews and Jesus had come to Jerusalem. In the
temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money
changers seated at their tables. This made him cross. Jesus Made a whip
of cords that lay on the temple floor. Jesus (whirling the rope around
his head and thrashing is onto the sellers tables as he kicks them over
says....)
Jesus: “Take these things out
of here! Stop making my Father’s house a marketplace where you
are robbing people!”
Narrator: The sellers quickly grab
what they can saying
Sellers: He is a madman. We have to
get out for our own safety'.
Narrator: Jesus was very sad that people
where using God's house for personal gain.
