BEING ALONE

You will find additional material for Family Services in the publications "Over the Moon"

Jesus stressed the need to be alone at times

Today's selected readings: Mark 6: 30 - 44

Kids Church Talk:

* Do you ever have the need to be alone with no-one around (Discuss locations etc)
* What are some of the things you like to do when you are alone?
* What are the advantages of being alone?
* In today's story, Jesus took the disciples away to a deserted place.
* Jesus knew the disciples were tired of all the attention they were receiving from the crowds that came to see him. But Jesus himself was also tired.
* When we are feeling down in the dumps and everyone and everything seems to be against us, it is good to just go off and be alone.
* Jesus understands that, and if we should want to talk to him when we are alone, he would value that, and so too would we.
* Jesus wants us to be his friend, and at times we need to spend time (sometimes on our own) in talking to Jesus.
* On other tinmes it is good to be with someone we like very much. Just the two of you. That makes your relationship with that friend very special.
