Transfiguration of Jesus - To
show we can change for the better
Today's selected readings:
Mark 9: 2-10

The Practical Sermon Activity
* Are you always a happy person? (discuss reasons why they
are not as well)
* If some-one is sad there face always shows it, and then something
happy happens, and the faces changes.
* Let's demonstrate this. I want you all to face the congregation
and show them how you would look if you were told that you could
not watch TV for a whole week. Now show us how you would look
if you were told you were going to have Fox Tel TV connected.
* Can you imagine how the disciples would have felt or looked
when they saw Jesus killed on the cross.
* Then imagine how they would have felt when they were told that
he had come back to life and was wanting to be with his friends
again.
* In todays story, Jesus had a wonderful "God" experience.
He was up this high mountain and God came to be with him in a
wonderful way. It was so special that his whole face and clothes
even became "Whiter than White"
* Almost like one of those "Omo Soap Powder" adds.
* Today we are reminded that when we have Jesus with us, we are
a changed person and others can see that by the way we act and
speak to others.

What you need to get ready:
* Face painting materials
* It is best a number of people be conscripted for this as children
become very bored when they have to wait their turn.
* Photography material - 35 mm, Video or Digital camera's. If
digital, these could be printed on a printer to give to the children.
If the church has these facilities, it could be done on the actual
day.

Kids Church Activity:
* To paint children's faces in a "Joyful" way
* The children could then have their photo's taken and a copy
given to them at next week's service. Or if you have a co-operative
photo shop, they could be developed pronto and given to the children
after the service. An alternative would be to use a digital camera
and print them off on the church printer to give to the children.
