• Have you ever had a splinter in your finger? (Discuss)
• It can really hurt and the longer it stays there, the worse the
pain becomes.
• But once it become infected, you may need to use a needle to stop
things becoming worse.
• Then there is the task of having the splinter removed and the
yuckie stuff that come out at the same time
• But once the splinter is removed, you feel better immediately
and there is no more pain in your finger, or leg or wherever the splinter
was.
• In the story for today Jesus does something similar. He removes
what ever it was in the persons body that was making him go mad
• As soon as this was removed, the person became calm and normal
like you and I
• That is the wonderful thing about being a friend of Jesus. No
matter what pain we experience he can make things calm and better again
if we ask him to help
• You may be sad, or angry or jealous etc. When we say "Jesus,
I am sorry for the way I have been acting". You will be amazed how
much better you will feel and the sadness or anger will have left you.
• Isn't it wonderful to have a friend like Jesus who cares for you
and looks out for you.

Church Activity:
To make a box with an opening in it where a “sorry sheet”
can be placed. As children say sorry for something that want Jesus to
forgive them for, then put it in the Jesus Forgives Box. To decorate the
box and glue on the special sorry pad. Box to have a pencil or biro affixed
to ribbon. Children to think about one thing that are sorry for, write
in on one of the sheets from the special pad and during the service place
it on the fire to symbolize how once we are forgiven it is obliterated. |
