Covenant Box - Reverence

“Covenant Box which contains the scrolls of the 10 commandments”

Today's selected reading: – 2 Samuel 6: 1-5, 12b-19

Kids Address
• Do you have rules at home? What are they? (Discuss)
• Are you good at keeping them, or are you very slack?
• Rules are not there to be a pain (although at times rules are), but they are there for the benefit of us all.
• Eg: Traffic Lights. Imagine what it would be like if we didn't have them.
• Mum and Dad rules also make sense. Don't cross the road without looking left, right then left again. Don't tease the Cat as he/she might bite. Don't touch the stove or you will get burnt etc

• But God also has a number of rules we need to follow.
• One says "Love others like you would want them to love you" - What do you think this means? Discuss
• But he also has a number of special rules that make sense. These are called commandments. Does anyone know how many there are?
• These 10 include rules like - Don't use God's name as a swear word, Respect your Mum and Dad, Don't steal, Don't tell lies, Respect other people etc.

• These rules were etched in stone and placed in a very special box called an ark which was carried around everywhere

• These rules are still special today, and when we attend church each sunday we are obeying one of them. Worship God.
