Jesus calms the storm

Today's selected reading: – Mark 4: 35-41

• Are you scared of anything? - Discuss
• What about Thunder or Lightening? - Discuss
• (Tell story about my dog who hides under the bed when this happens)
• It is quite normal for kids, and adults for that matter, to be frightened or concerned about things they are not sure about.
• I guess that is why when Thunder and Lightening happen, we feel safer when we jump into bed with Mum and Dad
• But as a Christian. One who believes in God and his son Jesus, we know that we can prayer to him (Talk to him) and he will look out for us.
• I know of many adults who seek the help of Jesus when things become messy in their life, or when they are scared of something. Yes it's true. Adults get scared at times also.
• In today's story, the storm really worried the disciples, and they woke Jesus up to save them.
• What did Jesus do? (Discuss)
• That is what Jesus does for us anytime we ask him for help.
• So it is important that you keep in contact with Jesus every day. Talk to him. Pray to him and you will know in your heart he is looking after you and help to protect you.
• Aren't we lucky to have a friend like Jesus?
