• How many of you are Harry Potter fans? (Discuss or if you have
a video projector you could show a short scene) Do you believe it actually
happened?
• We live in a world of make believe and of real life.
• The trouble is that in real life there are times when we are sad,
angry, scared, tired etc
• To cope, we often look for the make believe (Eg: films, videos,
theatre etc) Adults & Kids
• When I was a youngster, I would go to the circus and when I came
home (as we had a huge back yard), I would set up a pretend circus ring
and tame the lions, be a clown, do trapeze acts in the trees and the like.
It was the way we as children, who did not have a lot of the gadgetry
of today, enjoyed life.
• We knew it was not real. It just felt real
• But then there are other times, when Mum or Dad tells us something,
we know it is right because we have faith in them. We trust them and know
they would not tell us fibs.
• In today's story we see another example of faith (Explain what
faith is).
• Jairus had great faith in Jesus, and even when others told him
that his daughter had died, he believed Jesus when he said - It will be
OK - Come with me.
• He followed Jesus and was rewarded with seeing his daughter not
only come alive, but recovered from her serious illness.
• If this happened to your brother or sister, what would you do?
(Discuss)
• If it were me I would hug Jesus so tight he would be gasping for
breath.
• I would be so grateful
• When you believe in Jesus, and believe in what he can do to protect
you, wonderful things happen.
• And remember - the hug you miss out on is the hug you never catch
up on.
• After the service today if your parents are here, give them a
big hug to show you also have faith in them. If they are not both here,
then when you get home.
• Become a Christian hugger.

What you need to get ready:
Pre-drawn figure of Jesus on card, Scissors, colouring pens/pencils, sticky
tape, glue, red felt
|

1. Have each child draw and color a picture of Jesus on
a 9 by 12-inch piece of white construction paper or A4 if easier. Advise
children to draw figures from the waist up, making them as large as
possible.
2. Fold a second piece of white construction paper in half lengthwise,
and cut two "arm" shapes to fit each picture. (Younger children
may need help with this.)
3. Tape the paper arms to the pictures, connecting only at one end so
that they open freely.
4. Cut a small heart from the felt and glue to the figure in the area
which will be covered by the arms.
5. Use crayons to print the title of the picture, "YES, JESUS LOVES
ME," on one of the "arms.
