Jesus heals a lame man
Today's selected readings:
John 5: 1-9

Kid's Church talk
* Has there been any times when you have been so sick, you could
not attend a special function with your friends (Discuss)
* Maybe you have broken your leg and it is in plaster but you
still want to go out with your friends to a special birthday party.
If your friends were real friends, what would they do? (Discuss)
* In today's story, a man had waited near the gate to the pool
for some 38 years in the hope that someone would help him get
into the pool. (Discuss significance about people believing that
when the pool started swirling around, this was a sign from God
and if you were first into the pool you would be healed)
* Sadly this man had no-one to help him even though he was there
every day for 38 years.
* THEN DO THE FIZZY TEST - Get various children to do the taste
test.
* Fizzy, when it goes flat, tastes awful and is best drunk when
the fizz and bubbles happen. This is as soon as you put the fizzy
into the water.
* A little like the pool in the story, when the water swirled
around.
* That is why you are very special if you have friends to help
you when things are not going right.
* Jesus wants us to have good friends, but also friends that will
help one another.
