Today's selected readings: Luke 23: 33 - 43

Kid's Church talk: -

  • It is sad that people seem to not value their lives. We see graphic adds about people killed in car accidents and yet teenagers don't seem to take any notice. It won't happen to me.
  • We have choices in our life. We can do the right thing and not cause anyone any worry or we can just do our thing and not care about who we might hurt.
  • Do you think it matters if we hurt people or not? Why?
  • Jesus tells us today not to gamble with our lives (Explain what to gamble means)
  • It is about making choices and accepting the consequences of our action. eg: If you disobey Mum or Dad do you expect to get away with it?
  • It is the same with God. If we don't do the right thing with our lives, then this will displease God.
  • Today we are going to have a game as a congregation to help understand this more fully.
  • (Explain the activity from pointers below)

Kids Church Activity:
Make a huge dice than can be used to roll up the aisle. Have a start area decorated with "Who cares if the good things bring about my destruction" and up the other end of the aisle "Living a fun filled life with Jesus" As they select (Odds or evens) (Evens) allows them one pew higher. (Odds) they have to go back 1 space, The congregation have to suggest a reason for their move.

What you need to get ready:

A large dice about 2 foot cube.

Large sign up each end so is easy to read at a distance.

Divide the congregation into two halves. One side the negative and the other side the positive. As the children select odds or evens, that side has to give a reason (a task) as they move forward or back the number of pews.

Eg if an odd number is selected that side may say "For saying you would do something and never doing it" or "Spreading gossip about someone when they were not here to defend themselves"

If even that side may say "For spending time with a friend who has depressed and needed someone to talk to" or "I remembered to say my prayers every night this week"

NEXT WEEK

For our special baptism, we will have a Harley Davidson in church.(And started up)
