The Children's Address
• Have you ever wanted to be the big boss or leader in your group of friends. Those you enjoy being with?
• What do you think should be the qualities of someone who is the leader?
• Is it easy to be a leader? Why?
• A good leader is one you can trust at all times. They must be friends you just love to be with and you know they would always be there for you.
• In today's story, Jesus speaks to his disciples and those who were in the crown
• Jesus says to them that if they want to be in his group, or friends of Him, they must be prepared to give up some things to have the time to share with him
•Jesus is saying to us today "Do you want to be my friend? and if so, show me you are"
• How do you think we might show Jesus we want to be his friend? (Discuss)
• Jesus does not want us to give up everything we do to follow him
• He still wants us to go to school, play with friends, come to church, laugh and play
• But he wants just a little of our time and talents
• That is why we are here today - To show Jesus we like to be with his other friends and those who love him
• But he also wants us to talk to him (Prayers) and tell others about how great it is to come to church and be a part of Kid's Church
•Can you share with me how you do these things now?
• If you don't say your prayers, then Jesus is challenging us today to start immediately. To pray to him each night before we do to bed as a start at least
• It won't be easy and at times we will forget. But Jesus says that being his friend can at times be demanding and we have to make a choice.
