Healing - The importance of healthy
touch and care.
Today's selected readings:
Luke 6: 17 - 26

The Practical Sermon Activity
* What normally happens to a young child when they have hurt themselves
(Mum kisses it better)
* Mum could have said "You are a grown boy/girl - just get
on with it". But she would show care. Bathe the wound, put
a band-aide on it and most likely say "Mum will kiss it better"
* It is amazing how better we feel when we are given a cuddle
or embrace.
* In today's story about Jesus is mobbed by people just wanting
to touch him. He was a hero to them as he was able to make people
well
* Like being at the cricket or the football and the players go
back to the dressing rooms, often people just want to touch a
famous player as it makes them feel special.
* That is the way the people felt when they were around Jesus.
* Touch, or giving someone a hug or a cuddle can at times make
sick people feel better because they feel that someone cares about
them.
* That is why you often see a large dog as a pet in a nursing
home, moving around the residents receiving pats from all of them.
It makes the residents feel good and warm inside.
* Today we are going to make some people in the Nursing home nearby
feel good. We will make a small gift, take it to them, give them
a cuddle and say we care about them.
* In this way, we will be just like Jesus.

Kids Church Activity:

women). The healing theme would be stressing that there are many
ways of receiving healing. Sometimes a kind deed or a caring cuddle
can have a healing effect. These gifts are them taken to a local
rest home and given to the residents with a cuddle. A card to
be added with a welcoming message.

What you need to get ready:
Soap, small stemmed flowers, wrapping paper, card to make the greeting card, coloured pens/pencils/ scissors, wrapping twine.
