Care of Others

We need to care for those less fortunate than us

Reading - Matthew 25: 31-40

• Have you ever play a game using teams where two are appointed captains and they have to choose their team? Discuss
• When they selected the team where were you in the selection order? Discuss
• How did this make you feel? Discuss
• Sadly their is no way around this method and the captain will choose from a number of methods - Friends, strong, tall etc
• In today's reading Jesus says he will use a similar method when he decides who will go to heaven and those who won't
• What method do you think Jesus would use to decide?Discuss
• Jesus is telling us today that we need to be his hands, his feet, his eyes, his voice here on earth
• Every time we help someone, it is as though we are actually doing this to help Jesus
• What are some of the things you might do to show Jesus you want to help him? Discuss
• Things like sharing your lunch with someone who forgot theirs, sitting with someone who is very sad to try and cheer them up, sticking up for someone who is being picked on etc
• When we do these things Jesus smiles down on us and says "Yes, he/she is a true friend of mine"

Today we are going to show our Karen parishioners that we care for them by making special bon bons for the children to put on their Christmas tree on Christmas night to open on Christmas Day.

It shows them we care and that we are showing this care because Jesus asks us to.
