thing you need to live? (Discuss)
• Actually it is water. In fact some people today call it liquid
gold. Why do you think they call it that? (Discuss)
• Australia is a very dry country with many deserts. It is a desert
because it receive very little rain. But even worse. Many parts of Australia
that used to have plenty of rain now have very little.
• Farmers are not even able to irrigate their crops, and we all
know what happen when you plant something and don't water it. (Discuss)
• That is why it is now called liquid gold, and when you can't even
water your lawns with the hose, you soon realise how serious things are.
• For those of us who are Christians, that is someone who is part
of Jesus family, to be without Jesus in our life would be like a drought.
• We need to know we are loved by Jesus. We need to know that he
is there to help us when we ask. When this happens, we get a feeling like
on a really hot day and we have a cool drink.
• Today in this service, those who normally receive the Holy Communion
will be coming to the altar rails to receive God's special gift that we
receive in the bread and the wine.
• We believe that Jesus's strength and love becomes part of the
bread and the wine, and when we receive this we know that Jesus is with
us in a special way.
• In the same way you give a cuddle to someone you love, and feel
that special feeling, so it is with those who receive this special love
each time they receive this sacrament.
• When we love Jesus, and share in his gifts; there will never be
a spiritual drought in our lives.

Church Activity:
: To continue the similar these of the past two weeks. Today to emphasise
the strength God gives us in the blessed wine. Stress how we can’t
live without fluid, and how common water is so precious. Many water storage
areas are down to dangerous levels. Likewise, when we receive the special
wine blessed by God, he helps us to live more effective lives. Activity
to design a special label stressing all this, that wraps round a bottle.
This to be filled with a wine coloured fruit juice – Eg: berry juice
etc. The slogan could read "Jesus strengthens us with his gifts". |

What you need to get ready:
: Small sauce bottles or mixer bottles (300ml), paper for labels, scissors,
textas, glue stick or you could purchase self adhesive label sheets from
your local printer.
