Today's selected readings: – Matthew 9: 35 – 10:8

Kids Address

• Do you think it is fair to have to do all the work around the house while other members do nothing? Discuss
• What about poor Mum or in some cases Dad who does all the work for meals. Peels the spuds, carrots, peas etc, cooks the meal, sets the table and then washes up.
• Do you think this is fair for Mum or Dad to have to do all this whilst other family members only sit down and eat the meal without even offering to wash up at the end?
• In the story today it is a bit like that. Jesus tells the story about people who don't care about others. They are only concerned about themselves.
• Jesus says there are many people who have a need to know God and deep down want to, but they don't know how to go about it.
• Jesus says if only there were more people prepared to share his good news about the fact that God loves them and wants to help them
• If there were, this world would be a happier place.
• What about you. When was the last time you helped Jesus? Did a nice thing for someone to make their world seem a much better place. (Discuss)
• If someone says "Do you go to church?" - Then when you say yes! and its great! you are being a great help to Jesus in spreading his good news
• What you are saying is that Christians are allowed to have fun and enjoy each others company.
• Remember - You show God's love when you do wonderful things for others.

OR you could incorporate the story book “The little red hen” which talks about the help she asked for and didn’t get in making he bread and how everyone was there wanting to eat the final result.
