• Do you know what a commandment is? (Discuss and demonstrate)
• Last week we spoke about Leadership and showing people the way
(Quote Jesus)
• The soldiers, as we remembered them on Anzac Day, certainly would
have known the importance of a command and orders given.
• They knew that obeying a command from one of their officers would
most likely help to save their life
• Imagine what it would be like if each soldier just went off shooting
at the enemy. They could easily be caught up in what the armed forces
call "Friendly fire" - (Explain)
• By obeying a command from an officer and doing what they ask allows
other members of the company to know where the soldiers would be moving
and help prevent shooting their own men.
• Today we are made aware of God's commands - How many were there?
• These commands or rules were so many towards God (4) Love God,
Don't use God's name as a swear word etc - (6) for our families and neighbours.
Respect your parents, don't get jealous when someone has something you
don't have etc
• God does not make up commands or rules just to be a poor sport.
He made them up so we could live a life so we were fair to others
• He gave rules towards him so we would respect and value what God
does for us as well as showing respect to others
• By obeying God's rules we become a better person and Christian.

Church Activity:
Scavenger Hunt – To make a game out of the task of knowing the commandments.
Have a set of commandments (10 individual ones) and have them planted.
Eg: Honour your parents (Mum or dad would have the card), You shall not
steal (Biscuit barrel in the church kitchen), Observe the Sabbath (The
lady who hands out the Sunday reward stickers) etc. The ones you have
trouble being creative with, just have them hidden around the property.
Have them clearly numbered in large print so children can leave the ones
they don’t require and collect the others.
