Today's selected readings: – John 6: 35, 41-51

• Last week we spoke about what our favourite breakfast food was and what we especially enjoyed on our toast.
• Today Jesus continues on from last week and says to us that he is the bread of life - Can anyone suggest what this might mean? (Discuss)
• Eg: In many of the third world countries, bread, or a form of bread is what most people survive on. In other words, without bread many people would not have a staple diet and would die.
• What types of bread do you use in your home - Eg: Thin sliced, thick sliced, pita bread, bread rolls to mention some.
• There is nothing better than bread when you want to mop up the last of the gravy on your plate - Delicious.
• Yes, bread is a most useful and essential food for our daily lives.
• After all, what are the words of the Lord's prayer that talk about bread "Give us this day our daily bread"
• For a Christian, daily bread is also essential. Jesus in today's reading says that he is the bread of life. In other words, something essential for us if we are to be serious about being a follower of Jesus. . Without Jesus in our lives, we would be a no-body person who thinks they were Christian.
• As bread is essential to our daily living, so too is Jesus essential in our lives.
• Today in the Holy Communion, we will think about Jesus when we receive the special bread.
• Today, all over the world, Christians will partake of the special bread of Jesus
• Isn't it great to know you are part of a special family that believes Jesus is essential to us as Christians, like we know bread is essential to our daily diet.
