Sunday 23rd August (Sample Only)

This week's Theme - Following Jesus can be so difficult

Reading - John 6: 60 - 69

The Children's Address
• What do you want to be when you grow up? (Discuss)
• Sometimes in your job you will have to make hard decisions (Explain)
• Not everyone will like what you are doing
• Sadly there are people today who are just lazy and want everyone else to do things for them
• They believe it is their right to expect - A roof over their head, food on the table, warm bed, entertainment like computer games, Nintendo etc
• They can't see why they should have to live in a house that has rules.
• They say they should be able to do what ever they want with no responsibilities whatsoever
• But to achieve this someone has to work hard to earn the money.

• When you go to school, you will find some subject are very hard to understand and yet if you don't try, you will never learn and will mean you will be limited in the jobs you can undertake.

• That is why we have so many homeless people and children on the streets. Out in the cold each night trying to survive on what they can steal
• If these people accepted that life has its hard side when at times we have to listen to others and take notice of them (eg Mum and Dad as they are telling us what to do for our own benefit)
• If you plan to grow up and be responsible, then there will be times when you have to toe the line
• Eg: Not go out so you can study for exams, Help around the house to share the load and help your parents etc (What sort of things do you think you could do to help?)

• Jesus in today's reading tells us that life is full of choices and not all of them will be easy.
• He says that sometimes you may even doubt there is a God
• But if as Christians we try to live the life Jesus wants for us, hard as it will be at times, we will be rewarded by a good and happy life.
