VOICE OF JESUS

True Christians hear the voice of Jesus

Today's selected reading: – John 10: 22-30

Kids Address
• You have a pair of ears - Why don't you use them? This is a common cry from most parents.
• Last week we also spoke about listening and how it is important to listen to others.
• But listening is only the first stage isn't it. Listening is about giving you information that you can either take notice of or ignore.
• No one person has all the answers to things.
• Eg: I am not very good with building things out of wood or similar
• But I am happy to have a go, and so I have a desire to listen to others for the advice they will give me. This means I won't make a mess of things completely.
• On the other hand, I am not too bad when it comes to using a computer, and at times I have people ask for my advice on how to use particular programs.
• Now in both of these cases we listen because we want to and believe there is value in listening to advice.
• In today's reading Jesus is saying that those who listen to what he has to say, and do it, are very much valued members of His church
• Jesus says when you spend time with me (in prayer, worship) then I have a chance to get to know you and truly love you.
• Jesus then mentions how he is like a good shepherd looking out for and caring for his sheep.
• Like Mum and Dad, when they hear your voice, they know it is you because they love you enough to want to be very close to you.
• Jesus too is like that. If you have a relationship with him and show him you love him by saying your prayers and coming to church, he will ALWAYS hear your voice and your needs because you are special to him.
• Aren't you lucky to have such a friend in Jesus?
