JESUS RAISES SON FROM THE DEAD

Jesus raises the son of the widow women

Today's selected reading: – Luke 7: 11-17

Kids Address
• Tell story about Dibley the chook who after having been chased by dogs, was caught and placed in a box for safety. When box was opened again the chook looked dead and didn't move, and then it blinked. It wasn't dead, rather it was scared stiff and just looked dead.
• Have you ever had a pet that you thought had died, only to find later on this was not the case (Discuss)
• In today's story we learn about a women who's husband had died and all she had in the world was her son who had just died.
• How do you think she would have felt?
• What do you think you could do for her if you were there?
• She was very lucky because at that time a very important person was in town that could help her. Who was that?
• Jesus felt real sorry for the women and so he went to where the dead boy was being carried, touched him and he came alive.
• How did people react when they saw this? (Discuss)
• They were very scared because dead people don't come back to life and yet Jesus was able to do this.
• There are many people in this world who get about like Dibley my chook. They don't appear to have any life in them at all.
• Sometimes they are even downright nasty, sad and selfish individuals
• There is no joy in them at all. It is as if they were really dead
• That is the difference for us as Christians because we have Jesus in our hearts and he elps us to be happy and caring people
• Jesus comes to us every sunday when we come to worship and helps us to be really alive and loving
• Aren't you glad that you have Jesus as a friend.
