MARRIAGE
There are no easy solutions to all the complex problems facing marriage, and the family living in today’s world. But, it is important to take preparing couples for Marriage very seriously, and to make extra time and facilities available to prepare them more effectively.
I provide the resources needed to allow couples to be prepared as well as they can for their marriage.
It is important to note that the pre-marriage course is important, as statistics show that there is a 30% better success in wedding bliss if couples have undertaken marriage preparation. But ultimately you must make the choice.

BOOKING FOR A WEDDING: (At a Church, Garden Wedding or other location)
First contact me (9974 1994) and book the date and time you wish. Then 6 months prior to your wedding, make further contact to confirm arrangements and make your first interview.
BOOKING FEE TO SECURE YOUR WEDDING DATE/TIME: There is a $100 deposit which must be paid at your first interview to secure your wedding date. If fee is not paid, then this date cannot be guaranteed and may be allocated to other couples.
AT THE FIRST INTERVIEW: You are to bring with you your birth certificate or extract of birth and if divorced, the final decree notice. If previous partner had died, a death certificate. A current passport in lieu of a birth certificate is acceptable.
PRIOR TO FIRST INTERVIEW: Fill in the application form on line or download an application form to send in.
LEGAL DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR MARRIAGE: You can obtain the necessary documents by contacting the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, 589 COLLINS STREET MELBOURNE - Phone 1300.369.367
(a) Notice of Intended Marriage.
This form (Obtainable from the Priest) needs to be filled in no more than 18 months or no less than 31 days of the intended marriage. This is normally done at the first interview.
(b) Birth Certificate
The Marriage act requires each person to produce a birth certificate. This has to be sighted by the celebrant. You are also able to use a current passport in lieu of a birth certificate for the celebrant to sight.
(c) Consent of both Parents to the Marriage of a minor
The Marriage act requires a person under the age of 18 years must have the consent of BOTH PARENTS. If one has died, then a copy of the person's death certificate must be produced.
(d) Marriage Certificate
This is signed after the wedding service has been celebrated. (The certificate is provided by myself) The signatures of the Bride and Groom must be witnessed by two persons over the age of 18 years.
(e) Previous Marriage
If your previous Marriage ended in the death of the Partner, or in Divorce, then papers to prove this fact must be sighted by the celebrant at the first interview. It is important that you have these with you when you meet with me at your first meeting.
CHURCH or OTHER LOCATION BOOKING
This is your responsibility to make contact with the church of your choice or wedding location, and there will be separate costs involved there. Eg: Church fee, flowers, organist etc. You need to especially ask what the rule is regarding confetti and taking photos/video in the church.
PRINTED ORDER OF SERVICE
If required, we can print a special order of service for your guests to use on the day and keep as a souvenir. If you require this, please arrange it early .

INTERVIEWS
1st Interview 6-18 MONTHS PRIOR TO MARRIAGE. The first basic interview with me is to sign papers and get to know each other. (Please bring birth certificates or extracts of birth and other documents as mentioned previously - eg: divorce or death certificates, to this interview)
This is normally arranged at my home in Tarneit, however it is possible for me to come to you. Extra costs in traveling are involved.
2nd/3rd Interviews (Optional but encouraged) Relationship Assessment. Answering a series of questions to give me an opportunity to assess how I can best be of help in preparing you for your marriage. - This also involves a follow up interview to talk about your response to the questions. This is an important commitment as statistics show that 30% more marriages survive if they have undertaken pre-marriage preparation. This is undertaken in Tarneit.
4th. Only if required.
5th. Final interview in week prior to wedding, to talk about the service itself, and what you do on the day etc. This involves getting together at the wedding location if required or in Tarneit, and going through what will happen at the service. You need to allow about 30 minutes for this interview. It can be with all the wedding party or just the Bride and Groom.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE This is a worthwhile investment in looking at strengths and areas you need to work at, in your existing relationship.
Each couple rate (on a rating of 1-5), their attitudes to 125 questions to a wide range of areas. Your answers are then sent away to Brisbane to be professionally assessed.
A second interview is then booked for 3-4 weeks later , to give me time to go through your answers. I am then is able to talk to you about your special strengths are and the areas where your relationship could be improved. (There is a special charge of $ 165 for this service) Wedding Details

OUTDOOR WEDDING REQUIREMENTS
If an outdoor wedding is planned then the following pre-requirements would need to be met.
1. Chairs/forms in a semi circle
2. Archway decorated with greenery of flowers
3. Large cross to hang from centre of archway
4. Sound system with at least one microphone
5. Music (CD or live music)
(a) As bride enters (1 song or music track)
(b) During signing of the register (2 songs or 2 music tracks)
(c) As couple leave to walk down the aisle (1 song or music track)
(d) If using a CD machine it must be played through an amplifier to ensure sufficient sound level.
6. Signing the register
(a) Table and two chairs (Table to have a white cloth on it)
(b) Fountain pen or biro to sign register
7. Marriage preparation and interviews are exactly the same as requirements for church weddings.
